A Message from Aundré
My City Council goal and focus is to empower fellow Claremont residents. District 4 needs our help to respect its rich heritage and continue preserving its character for the future.
Claremont is a unique city. It is a beautiful community to raise children, with exceptional schools, exquisite parks, and caring neighbors. Claremont is also unique in that it has a large senior population; as well as an active working class, and an impressive, diverse accumulation of educators. All these residents are important. They all need to be valued and appreciated.
My first impression of Claremont as a young boy was extremely positive. I saw it as a special place where I wished to live someday. After much hard work throughout college, which led to rewarding employment in the film and entertainment industry, I achieved my dream. My wife and I became Claremont residents, and our two sons happily entered our local CUSD schools.
Recently, many community members have commented that some of our city council are not reflecting the interests of District 4. Our part of town is growing and has much to offer, but also has much to protect and preserve.
Claremont needs to stand strong to ensure that the interests of the community are valued and appreciated. I wish to empower all my neighbors within District 4.
Share your thoughts for improvement in the city of Claremont. I’m here to listen and take action. Please join me in an inclusive effort to chart a better path to civic greatness with a healthier, sustainable future.
Sincerely,
Aundré Johnson
Candidate for Claremont City Council, District 4
A Local, Grassroots Campaign
local control
I will represent District 4 and Claremont at large, not developers that force the City to comply with state law. I believe Claremont can meet state requirements in ways that our community can embrace.
larkin place
While the concept of Larkin Place has its merits, the way it has been presented has caused undue division within our community. I believe the concerns of all neighbors must be addressed, as there are legitimate safety issues that have been largely dismissed.
PROTECTING NEIGHBORHOODS
Protecting and preserving the safety and character of our neighborhoods is one of my highest priorities. Let’s keep Claremont, Claremont!
Public Safety
I am not for defunding the police. We need to find a way to get more officers on the streets. Over the last four years, we have seen an increase in crime citywide and human trafficking in South Claremont that is out of control. We must ensure our community's safety.
AFFORDABLE HOUSING
We should advocate for more "right-sized density" housing. For example: 1-story, 1-level, Handicap/ADA accessible, smaller sized units. Ensure all units can be purchased and provide ample parking for residents and visitors.
